Are you a Human Resources student or a recent graduate? We are in search of a motivated, Volunteer HR Coordinator to join our team.The Stem Montessori Academy of Canada is a federally registered not-for-profit regional science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) program open to all students with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application. The STEM program educates students from preschool to high school and is available to all children nationwide. SMAC specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).Our successful volunteers have these characteristics:•Self-directed and motivated learner•Research answers and questions independently, but know when to ask for assistance•Shows initiative within competence limits and seeks means to fulfill areas for improvement•Flexible, confident, and respectful to others•Passion for education•Enthusiastic and exemplifies a good work ethic - dedicated and committed•Great at planning, organization, leadership and teamwork, and time managementDuties & Responsibilities:•Assist with all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests.•Assist with the recruitment process by identifying candidates, performing reference checks, and issuing contracts.•Assist with performance management procedures.•Schedule meetings, interviews, and HR events and maintain agendas.•Coordinate training sessions and seminars.•Perform orientations and update records of new staff.•Produce and submit reports on general HR activity.•Assist with payroll and ad-hoc HR projects.•Support other assigned functions.•Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices. Requirements:•Bachelor's degree in HRM or a related field would be preferred•6+ months of experience in an office setting or in an admin position•Excellent written and verbal communication skills•Fantastic time management and organizational skills•Able to attend occasional Zoom meetingsOther Information:We are thrilled to announce the launch of our biggest and most important STEM Innovation Summer Program to date, running across 4 provinces!We need eager volunteers to help us plan, and execute this program. Whether you are a new volunteer or a past volunteer, we are reaching out to you to see if you have any time to lend. We need your help!The volunteer requirements for this program is a commitment of at least 2-4 hours per week from April 2 - 15 and will last until June 30, 2024. We have a lot of exciting opportunities including team leadership, management, supervisory, and VP positions available for this project.
