Job Description - Human Resources Manager

Manager – Talent, Culture & Leadership (HR Manager)

 

Opportunity

  • Reporting to the Director – Talent, Culture & Leadership, jump onboard and join our growing Talent team to lead, explore, and support strategic human resources objectives in British Columbia, Ontario.
  • As the Manager – Talent, Culture & Leadership, you will focus on leading and delivering authentic service and excellence in human resources to support our fast growth and ambitious business goals. You will drive the achievement of strategic objectives through a people perspective, serving as an advocate, catalyst, and champion of our HR global approach.
  • In addition to your proven experience in HR leadership and support, you are a strong communicator, well versed in worksite and labour HR support and have established experience working in both a unionized and nonunionized environment.
  • You embrace change and are known for your ability to influence others, lead, and build innovative teams. As British Columbia’s human resources leader, you will be a key partner to senior leaders and accountable for managing a team of resourceful and adaptable HR professionals.
What you will do:
  • Lead and be accountable for the entire British Columbia HR function, including workforce planning, recruiting and onboarding, employee relations, worksite and labour relations, talent management and development.
  • Have a strong understanding of the Labour Relations process across the British Columbia region and collaborate with our Labour Relations team to provide support to local leadership as required and effectively administer and apply required Collective Agreements.
  • Partner with leadership to support the execution of British Columbia’s strategic plan through its rapid growth and various HR priorities including labor mobility throughout the Greater British Columbia Area and throughout the country.
  • Oversee and provide guidance to our local HR team consisting of but not limited to a team of professionals in charge of recruitment, general HR services, training and workforce planning on the execution and implementation of HR programs and processes.
  • Assist with and be accountable for the development and execution of local recruitment and site workforce planning. In conjunction with British Columbia’s Talent Acquisition Specialist and a workforce planning resource, you will actively participate in the full cycle recruitment for select or senior-level managerial roles and key site workers.
  • Lead and provide support as required for compensation decisions and support for employees, including worksite staff.
  • Effectively handle highly sensitive and confidential employee/worksite labor relations issues arising within the company including workplace investigations, grievances, discipline, performance matters and general employee relations within union and nonunion settings.
  • Collaborate and partner with the Talent, Culture and Leadership Centre of Excellence team in the execution and management of a variety of projects and programs in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Organizational Development and Training & Development.
  • Be a champion and role model of Health & Safety in the British Columbia region.
  • Oversee and facilitate the implementation of HR policies, programs & processes, and the creation of communication timelines, messaging and assets for employee-facing projects.
  • Take part and provide insight into the development, implementation and rollout of Organizational Development initiatives and special projects.
  • Be a key contributor to continue building the local British Columbia office culture and take part in local office social activities


This role could be for you if you have

  • A post-secondary degree and/or diploma in Human Resources, Industrial or labour relations or any other related discipline, combined with 10+ years of progressive HR management experience and business partnering experience within union and non-union environment.
  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Industrial Relations Counsellor (CIRC) is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in all areas of Canadian employment laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaboratively partner with multiple leaders, providing effective guidance and challenge where appropriate.
  • Proven experience leading a multi-faceted HR team and driving people-based initiatives for a large territory and proven track record of full-cycle recruitment success.
  • Excellent organizational skills and can handle complex deliverables while addressing urgent issues in a timely manner.

The expected salary range for this opportunity is $108 200 - $146 400. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location. Listed compensation is exclusive of bonus and in addition to our extensive employee benefits program which is listed above. Availability of certain benefits may vary based on the specific job role.
