ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Macassa Mine, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an  Information Technology & Automation (IT) Co-op Student  to join our Information Technology team.

The Macassa Mine is a high-grade gold producer, with grade improving at depth, and a key valuation driver for Agnico Eagle. Located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the Macassa Mine remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. Macassa commenced operations in 2002, and with the discovery of the South Mine Complex has been able to increase its level of production significantly over the past five years. The mine is located in an area with well-developed infrastructure, including a provincial highway, a railway system and a private airport. High-grade ore is processed at the Macassa Mill, which currently has available capacity and is located in close proximity to the mine. 

The  Information Technology & Automation (IT) Co-op Student will  assist with the day-to-day upkeep of compute and automation technology of Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM) Macassa Mine.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

• Receive service requests and gather initial information
• Incident and Service request resolution and escalation
• Data entry into the ticketing system, and documentation
• Providing Tier 1 (front line) technical support to a business unit’s employees
• Maintaining working components through repair and/or replacement
• Ensure adequate inventory for computers and spare parts
• Assisting call-ins or live chat with technical difficulties
• Assisting employees and contractors with hardware and software challenges
• Configuration of phones, mobile, tablets, radios, desktops, laptops, printers, access points, cameras, etc.
• Installation support as required – Pre Trades

QUALIFICATIONS

• Those individuals wishing to apply into this position must be attending or recently completed an appropriate 2+ year post-secondary education program. Students should be seeking Co-op work experience (college credit), to complete their studies.
  • Eligible programs and studies include but are not limited to:
    • Computer Science
    • Computer Engineering
    • Computer Programing
    • Cyber Security
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Instrumentation
    • Computer Systems Technology
• The individual must also display the required technical, and problem-solving competencies.
• Must be willing and able to work in a Mining/Industrial environment (18+)
• Work in an underground mine environment is possible.
