The Department of Justice and Public Safety is dedicated to the rule of law, the promotion of the public interest, and the impartial administration of justice and works to improve the safety, security and resiliency of communities and citizens.
The Attorney General is the law officer of the Executive Council and is responsible to see that the administration of public affairs is in accordance with the law and to ensure protection of the public interest. The Legal Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General provides civil and constitutional legal advice and representation to all provincial government departments and some related agencies.
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking an individual to join the Legal Services Division as Lawyer 1 or Lawyer 2 within the Corporate, Commercial and Property Law Group.
What you will do
As a member of the Corporate, Commercial, and Property Law Group, the successful candidate will work with other lawyers in a team setting and will be responsible for conducting real property transactions including purchases, sales and leases, providing legal advice on commercial and contractual matters including preparation of documentation to further the business objectives of government departments and must have a thorough understanding of, and previous experience in, corporate, commercial, and property law.

Need to have (essential skills and qualifications)
Candidates with less than 8 years of membership in good standing at the Bar will be considered as a Lawyer 1. Candidates with 8 years or more will be considered as a Lawyer 2. Please state your date of admission to a Canadian Law society.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.
Candidates must demonstrate on their applications how they have acquired the education and experience for this position. Your résumé should be in chronological order specifying education and employment in months and years including part-time and full-time employment. Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration. Please indicate in your resumé your language preference for an interview.
Applicants are required to submit with their application a writing sample of no more than five pages that they have authored within the last five years. Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate, commensurate with years at the Bar:
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.
Operational requirements
Wage
$79,482 to $144,378 annually, depending on education and experience.
