Job Description - Manager, People & Culture

For a more in-depth to look into our work and programs, please visit: About You As the Manager, People and Culture, you will have experience in Employee/Labour relations, , compliance, employee engagement, and administration. You have broad understanding of HR best practices, collective agreements, recruitment and retention and process improvements. You have education and/or experience in Human Resources. You bring at least seven years of experience in a generalist/coordinator role which includes involvement in collective bargaining, grievances compliance, payroll, recruitment, onboarding, and employee/labour relations. You have excellent communication skills including writing and public speaking. In this senior position, you will be working with the Provincial Director to develop new strategies, and elevate existing practices which impact our union relationships and employee experience while aligning to our organizational goals. You will help enhance our people centric approach. Employee/Labour Relations
  • Provide leadership and consulting services to deliver on our collective agreements.
  • Build trusted relationships with the unions and senior leaders.
  • Develop and implement HR programs into the organization such as the employee engagement surveys, cultural days.
  • Apply a JEDI and strategic lens to design and deliver innovative people centric solution in line with our mission, vision and values.
  • Manage the committees of the union such as the OHS
  • Coordinates and assists with training and professional development initiatives for the organization.
Labour Management
  • Manage and chair the Labour Management Meetings
  • Manage and chair the Job Evaluation Committee (JEC), maintaining records and updates to the job bank.
  • Assist with effective administration of the Collective Agreement and participates in preventing and resolving grievances.
  • Manage the administration of the collective agreements.
Central Services
  • Effectively manage and plan the workflow of the Central Service department to maximize efficiency and meet business demands.
  • Supervises the receptionist position.
  • Track and manage the payment and renewal of office leases.
General
  • Assist with employee inquiries and concerns.
  • Maintain proper documentation for employee files.
  • Assist the department with projects and initiatives.

Experience/Education
  • Minimum 7 years experience in Human resources, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Bachelor’s in human resources is required, or equivalent education and experience
  • CPHR is considered an asset.
Accountability This position reports to Provincial Director, People and Culture and works closely with the union, payroll and leadership.
