The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Medicare and Physician Services Branch as a Medicare Policy Analyst in Fredericton.

As the Medicare Policy Analyst you will:

  • Ensure that internal policies are aligned with Medicare and Physician Services program objectives, drafting new internal policies or proposing revisions to existing policies as needed.
  • Lead, participate in, or support special projects and initiatives related to physician compensation policies, programs, and processes.
  • Coordinate and participate in various departmental and physician-related committees, meetings, and working groups representing the Medicare and Physician Services perspective.
  • Lead the development and implementation of performance measurement/KPIs for the Medicare & Physician Services Branch.
  • Work with the Salaried, Sessional & Physician Programs Unit to review stakeholder requests for sessional funding arrangements, conducting interviews with stakeholders as appropriate, and collecting/analyzing statistical and financial data.
  • Prepare detailed briefing notes for Senior Management on physician remuneration, providing recommendations strongly supported by qualitative and quantitative data and interpretation.

  • You are adept at critical analysis and recognized for your sound judgement.
  • You pride yourself on your attention to detail, organization skills and ability to prioritize deliverables.
  • You have well-developed writing skills to prepare material where interpretation, analysis, assessment and/or creativity requiring the knowledgeable use of terminology and precise articulation of ideas or opinions is necessary to effectively communicate.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or another related discipline
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in program management, or other related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of training, education and experience may be considered.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application .

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that possess the following asset qualifications:

  • Experience and/or education related to health care system administration.
  • Experience with policy analysis.

Candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualifications, in addition to the essential qualification, in order to be given further consideration.

Salary: $2,140 to $2,993 bi-weekly (Pay Band 4)
