STUDENT - Labourer - Facilities

POSITION SUMMARY : Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, performs yard maintenance duties, exterior and interior building maintenance, and deliveries.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Conducts general site cleanup, including sweeping, raking, and weed whacking.
2. Performs exterior building maintenance, which includes shed cleaning, minor painting, window cleaning, pressure washing overhead doors, laying of sod, cleaning bird feces, painting and planting/potting of trees.
3. Performs interior building maintenance, which includes minor clean-up in various areas and basements/boiler rooms, pressure washing of wash bay areas, garbage/waste removal and mopping.
4. Conducts deliveries (drop offs / pick ups).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills & Abilities:

• Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English
• Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Must possess superior customer service skills
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent
• Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
• Proficient in the use of computers and current related software (Word, Excel)

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to perform general labour duties

Conditions of Employment:

• Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation
• May be required to provide a successful driver’s abstract
• Must undergo a successful Criminal Records & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
• Successful completion of a Thunder Bay Police Building Clearance Search
