YCS employs approximately 230 administrators, teachers, and support staff and has an annual budget of over $28 million.

Yellowknife Catholic Schools has provided quality publicly funded education to northern students for over sixty-five years. We are the only faith-based district in the Northwest Territories. Although we are a Catholic school district, we welcome families of all faiths. We encourage our students to be socially responsible as a Catholic Education system. We want them to think critically about faith and to make decisions based on their spirituality and the knowledge that faith promotes being a good person. We use our faith-filled classrooms to explore how to live as people - letting our lights shine in the world.

Yellowknife Catholic Schools' vision of learning empowers students and staff to engage, explore, grow, and thrive in a multitude of ways. Our mission is to support student learning and well-being from JK - grade 12 so that each student can develop the skills and characteristics they need to be capable people in the world. Education, Culture and Employment defines a capable person as: “... one who has integrity in relationships that honour the self, others, the land, and the spiritual world .” Through these relationships, a capable person grows and develops a more expansive understanding of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual - the four parts of human development.”

We offer programming in English and French from JK—12, as well as Core Willideh Yati and Core French.
