The Department of Capital & Infrastructure is seeking a detail-oriented and responsible individual to join their team as a Survey Assistant. The Survey Assistant will provide essential support in conducting land and property surveys, working in the field collecting data and preparing sketches and maps for various ongoing projects, as well as contribute to the development and maintenance of an asset management mapping tool.
Job Duties:
- Assist in conducting field surveys, including setting up equipment, taking measurements, and recording data accurately.
- Being able to perform unaccompanied field surveys when necessary.
- Assist in the integration of survey data and historical data into the asset management mapping tool, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Perform layout for various infrastructure, construction projects and to support funding applications.
- Review and maintain good record of technical drawings.
- Locate and map legal property boundaries.
- Assist in developing urban planning and landscaping.
- Maintain survey equipment and ensure it is properly calibrated and in working condition.
- Generate and create maps (GIS/CAD).
- Assist the Capital & Infrastructure Department with any other related duties that may be required.
- Other related duties
Requirements:
- Certificate or diploma in related field – land survey or civil engineering technologist/technician, or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in related field
- Driver’s License
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS
- Proficiency in English language
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Mi’gmaq and French knowledge is an asset
