Note: Effective, January 1st, 2024 the correct salary range for this position will be $29.29 to $32.49 per hour in compliance with OPSEU collective agreement provisions.

What can I expect to do in this role?
On a rotating shift basis, you will:
• manage traffic on provincial highways within the North West region
• improve traffic flow safety and efficiency by operating COMPASS, a two-way radio system with dispatch console and incident management systems

Please note: This position is an irregularly-scheduled position for 0 - 40 hours per week with no guaranteed minimum number of hours.

Technical Knowledge and Experience
• you have experience with incident and emergency response
• you have knowledge of and experience in Advanced Traffic Management Systems
• you have experience with emergency dispatch/radio systems
• you have knowledge of freeway and highway maintenance and construction practices and procedures Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
• you are able to analyze and problem solve to anticipate problems based on the nature of the incident
• you can analyze and report on traffic incidents
• you are able to assess and implement appropriate services for traffic management Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• you can communicate in a clear and concise manner
• you are able to build and maintain effective working relationships
• you are able to identify relevant facts in logical order
• you are able to prioritize and exercise tact and judgment in stressful situations Computer Skills
• you are proficient with computers and with software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database applications and browser based user interface
