Tribal Nursing Officer Permanent Position
Purpose: In collaboration with and under the professional direction and guidance of the Nurse Manager of First Nations and Inuit Health Branch-MB Region and under the direct supervision of the Assistant Executive Director, Cree Nation Tribal Health Centre. To provide professional leadership in the delivery of and organization of community health nursing and health care to the member First Nations within the Swampy Cree Tribal Council.
Qualifications:
· Current valid Registered Nurse License or Baccalaureate Nursing Degree and valid registration from the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba;
· Relevant experience in First Nations Community Health Nursing;
· Relevant experience in Communicable Disease Control;
· Knowledge of First Nation Culture, values and traditions is an asset;
· Should have knowledge & working experience of the SCTC First nation communities;
· Knowledge and scope of practice issues, liability & standards of the nursing profession;
· Must be professional and maintain a high-standard of confidentiality;
· Previous working experience with First Nation & Inuit Health and a demonstrated understanding of the particular health and social issues encountered and experienced by FNIH;
· Must have excellent interpersonal & communication skills;
· Self-directed and the ability to work independently;
· Must have excellent computer proficiency skills;
· Experience in nursing orientation for communities;
· Must have experience in formulation of networks and maintenance in a positive manner;
· Advocacy and Advisory service skills on clinical guidance, risk management and liability;
· Report experience with development and continuous review of competency assessment tools and providing workshops;
· Assist CHN’s with accreditation standards when applicable;
· Knowledge and experience with Emergency Response Plans;
· Experience in writing annual reports, attend program managers meetings and conducting site visits;
· Problem solving skills;
· Financial, budgeting skills;
· Strong organizational skills;
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, with availability to travel weekly.
