POSITION DETAILS:
Youth Years Program Manager
Start Date: ASAP
Full-time Tuesday to Saturday – 37.5 hrs/week
Salary Range: $25-$28/hr
Closing Date: Until Filled
JOB DESCRIPTION:
BGC Yukon Youth Years program engages youth ages 12-29, through meaningful & integrated programming that provides them with long term positive outcomes. This position reports directly to the Youth Years Program Director. The incumbent is directly responsible for the following staff: Youth Years Program Coordinators, Youth Programmers, Interns, Auxiliary On-Call Workers, and Visitors (facilitators, contractors, volunteers) in relation to the Downtown Drop in Facility.
Youth Years Program Manager (YYPM) is responsible for:
• Adherence to all regulatory and organizational standards.
• Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Whitehorse Downtown Youth Drop-in.
• Ensuring proper opening and/or closing of the facility.
• Oversight of program planning and implementation.
• Assisting the MYPD with Human Resources and Staff Management.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed by the MYPD.
• Act as a BGCY Ambassador and Role Model. Qualifications:
• Current Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).
• Valid CPR/First Aid Certificate.
• Valid Foodsafe Level 1 Certificate (must be attained within the first 3 months of work).
• Valid WHMIS Certificate
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and access to reliable transportation (class 4 driver’s license is an asset).
• Two years of experience developing and facilitating programs for children/youth in a social, recreational or similar environment.
• Demonstrated teamwork, leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to problem solve and find resolutions to issues/conflict.
• Excellent oral, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven time management skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office application.
• An educational background in social services, child and youth care, or equivalent is an asset.
• Previous experience in a management role is an asset.
