Job Description - Bilingual Warehouse Officer

The Warehouse Officer supports all areas of the warehouse as assigned, but specializes in one key department.

As a Warehouse Officer with a specialization in Processing, you are the coordinator of Chit Chat’s core business operation; sorting, processing and logistics . You help ensure warehouse operations are processed effectively, provide excellent service for internal and external stakeholders, and follow protocols for shipment flow.  You are committed to providing an efficient, accurate and operations-focused service. You keep up to date with changes to procedure and are always looking for more efficient, cost-effective ways of getting things done while keeping in line with our strategic anchors and values.

It is important for our Warehouse Officer to connect with teammates and clients alike. In addition to being able to get your thoughts across clearly, we want you to listen to others, be curious and ask questions, display empathy and show an interest in others. 

You will collaborate with your teammates to find more efficient, cost-effective ways of doing things that are values-driven and aligned with our strategic anchors.

Specialized Responsibilities (Processing)

  • Facilitate the sorting process at the Hub level for domestic and international operations

  • Maintain operation consistency and daily functions of warehouse

  • Proactively escalate gaps in process or communication to ensure an efficient operation is maintained.

  • Review, investigate and resolve client inquiries. Escalate to supervisor/manager once all problem-solving strategies have been utilized.

  • Understand the entire process flow of Chit Chats from Client Batching to Trip Plans/manifesting and use extensive knowledge of the process service to provide a value-added experience.

  • Manage the logistics administration tasks such as US trip manifesting, trip planning, carrier contact/paperwork

  • Act as a backup for the Sort Supervisor/Operations Lead in the Hub. This role requires a significant amount of shift changing, being accepting of shifts between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Responsibilities to Warehouse Operations

  • Process shipments meticulously.

  • Consolidate shipments and bags on skids to maximize space on trucks.

  • Wrap and label skids according to business protocols to facilitate compliance checks.

  • Load and unload skids on/off trucks with the use of a pallet jack.

  • Conduct spot checks when necessary.

  • Maintain a clean and tidy warehouse and branch.

  • Process supply orders and inventory.

  • Pick and pack orders.

  • Receive and Sort inventory.

  • Greet customers while representing Chit Chats’ brand and values.

  • Offer consultative service, answer questions and make product and service recommendations.

  • Process shipments meticulously including scanning, sorting and loading onto skids.

Responsibilities to Team

  • Follow company policies and procedures to a "T".

  • Follow compliance procedures.

  • Maintain a log of escalations and provide summary reports to management.

  • Helping teammates to ensure effective and low-cost procedures.

  • Maintain good communication between team members, this includes managing a meeting schedule and specialized department channels.

  • Extra tasks or projects from time to time.

  • Must be available to work Monday to Friday 3 pm to 11 pm - periodic weekend shifts may be assigned.

  • Must have a valid G license.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask with efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Standing and lifting are required. 

  • Must be able to communicate in French and English.

  • Previous retail, warehouse and shipping experience is considered an asset.

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications, comfortable with learning new programs. 

  • Trustworthy, reliable, full of heart with a positive outlook on life.
