Job Description - Engineer, Senior Electrical


We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Eastern Clean Energy Initiative (ECEI)  team. Reporting to the Sr. Technical Advisor, Energy Storage, you will join a team of   professionals at our Halifax location where we offer you a Hybrid work option.

 

We are getting ready to lead the largest transformation in the history of our company. Our goal is to reach 80% renewable electricity sales by 2030. This means that we will have to transform our current processes and how we deliver clean energy to help build a greener economy. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and engineering expertise to the Eastern Clean Energy Initiative (ECEI) team. Your focus will be supporting the Grid-Scale Battery Project, with the Nova Scotia Power development of three 50 MW/ 4-hour battery sites in Bridgewater, Waverley and the Valley. 

 

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

  • Collaboration and coordinating with internal and external subject matter experts to review and implement electrical engineering design;
  • Inspection test plan/acceptance testing witnessing and documentation as well as detailed review of inspection reports;
  • Site representative through project commissioning activities and acceptance testing;
  • Ensure design and implementation follows standards and procedures as well as technical advice regarding construction methods and design;
  • Identification and analysis of alternatives to reach decisions and making appropriate recommendations on technical and logistical issues;
  • During construction and testing activity this position will be required to travel to project locations and be on site for a significant portion of time.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred), full membership (or eligible for membership) in Engineers NS;
  • Strong analytical and project engineering skills for construction projects would be an asset;
  • Experience working with energy storage systems, manufacturing inspection of electrical equipment, and oversight of utility project engineering work is an asset;
  • You are an experienced engineering professional with strong analytical, technical and project management skills;
  • The ideal candidate will have 10 years electrical engineering technical and project experience and strong communications skills with regards to external partners and internal stakeholders;
  • You demonstrate strong relationship skills, and an ability to work well with others at various levels of the organization;
  • You must possess a valid driver´s license and be available to provide assistance or direction for after hour emergency service restoration.
