Job Description:Job Description Abrams Towing Group is one of the largest road service, towing, and transportation companies in North America. With 8 locations across Ontario, we serve the motoring public by providing towing and recovery services for both light and heavy-duty vehicles. Established in 1984, Abrams has grown to have the largest fleet of heavy-duty tow trucks in Canada. In addition to our towing services, we also offer covered transport for luxury and exotic vehicles. Our transportation division moves equipment using a fleet of specialized trailers. We are seeking a dedicated individual for our North York head office location to join our growing team as a Fleet Maintenance Manager. As a Fleet Maintenance Manager, you are in charge of maximizing efficiency and profitability by managing the maintenance of the vehicles used by Abrams. Your responsibilities as a fleet maintenance manager include all fleet maintenance logistics, ensuring minimized costs and maximized profits, by monitoring everything from vehicle wear to fuel costs. The primary objective is to enhance processes, ensure compliance with all regulations, achieve cost savings and anticipate future needs. In this position, the chosen candidate will closely collaborate with, Location Managers, Finance, HR, Safety and Compliance and Drivers, as well as external suppliers. The following are principal duties of the Fleet Maintenance ManagerLead day-to-day coordination and management of fleet operations activities for our fleet.Play an integral role in the hiring, training, and ongoing development of vehicle maintenance technicians.Develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships with suppliers and contractorsRaise the bar on safety. Drive a safety-first culture across all aspects of the operationsDevelop and adhere to strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules, detailed records of vehicle maintenance and inspectionDraft, deliver, maintain, audit, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs)Evaluate current operational performance and provide a strategic plan for improvementsKeep ELD logs and regulatory and registration up-to-date, vehicle maintenance logs, and maintenance reminders up to date by performing regular auditsExecuting and updating fleet and inventory softwareEnsure smooth operation of preventative maintenance programDefine and execute against objectives and KPIs, positively reinforce and engage your teamEnsure all permits and licences are valid and comply with current regulations.Ensure full compliance and adherence to all regulations and safety standards to ensure that safety is top priority.Build and maintain positive rapport with drivers as a contribution to driver retentionDevelop Implement and maintain systematic, management policies and procedures, analytical and results-based methods for savings, monitoring supplier's performance, and sourcing effectiveness; communicate these results to management as needed, for increased effectiveness.Set up vehicles using GPS installers & monitoring system as well as deactivating vehicles on the GPS monitoring company to keep track of our fleet. Assign GPS/ELD's (Electronic logging device) to vehicles and manage GPS orders.Develop and implement risk management strategies alongside our Health & Safety team.Collaborate with the Safety and Compliance TeamOther relevant duties as assigned Qualifications- Experience as a Fleet Manager, Supervisor or similar role- Valid driver’s licence- Awareness of Highway Traffic Act, including hours of service, weight restrictions etc.- Strong knowledge of fleet management principles and best practices- Proficiency in using fleet management software systems- Ability to read schematics and diagnose mechanical issues- Knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance procedures- Excellent communication and leadership skills- Great time management and organizational skills- Industry knowledge an asset Job Types: Full-Time, Permanent, Monday to Friday Benefits: · Dental Care · Vision Care · Extended Health Care · Free parking · Close to subway and public transit · Company lunches and events Work Location · In person, North York, ON Background and Reference Checks Any offer of employment may be conditional upon background checks including a criminal record check, a credit check, employment and educational verification.
