Junior Accountant with a high-end retail company- great culture and team!

Who- the Company:  
Our client, a high-end retail company located in Vancouver. Great team of people in a fun tight knit environment.

What- the Role:  
Under the direction of the Director, Accounting the Junior Accountant is responsible for the Accounts Payable functions, Daily Sales Reporting and other general accounting tasks.
The successful candidate has excellent communication skills and a good accounting acumen. You are a team player and are comfortable engaging across other functions in the business. You are a self-starter with attention to detail who seeks out information required to get the job done. You are comfortable asking questions and sharing your thoughts on how to improve processes.
Accounts Payable

• Full control of Product Payables cycle, including complex and timely payments in multiple currencies requiring various processes and third party financial tools/programmes
• Record invoices, prepare vendor summaries, reconcile to vendors’ accounts, research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
• Petty Cash transactions recording and reconciliation
• Credit Card statement distribution, collect receipts, recording and reconciliation
• Monthly Rent maintenance and payment
• Identify cash requirement and process weekly cheque runs

Daily Sales

• Review daily sales, reconcile transactions from different sources, investigate any discrepancies
• Sales analysis and reporting
• Sales and COGS reconciliations
• Accounts Receivable tracking and analysis
• Assist with stores’ sales related and logistics requests and adjustment
• Daily bank reconciliation in multi-currencies

General Accounting
Month end work such as:

• Various periodic reconciliations in support of financial accounts
• PST and GST calculation and reporting
• Sales target update, uniform posting, and new employee addition
• Maintain Prepaid schedule
• Capital Asset additions and depreciation calculations
• Assist with annual inventory counts
• Related party transactions
• Other month end and year end tasks as assigned

Who- the Candidate:

• 3 years related experience
• Excel - Intermediate level
• Organized, self starter and attention to detail
• Adherence to processes, control systems and company policies
• Efficiency and time management
• Positive and professional attitude
• Working knowledge of Sage 300 (especially IC modules), QuickBooks, and/or Shopify an asset
• Retail experience is an asset
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Where:
Olympic Village area. Very transit friendly with free staff parking close by. This position will work in office Monday – Friday. 

How Much:
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, 2 weeks’ vacation plus benefits, staff discounts and other perks.
