Job Overview

A Logistics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and facilitating the supply chain operations of a company. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and effective communication with suppliers, customers, and internal teams. The logistics coordinator ensures that products are delivered on time, within budget, and to the appropriate location.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and Monitor Supply Chain Operations:

Manage and optimize the logistics network to ensure efficient delivery and distribution. Track shipments, oversee inventory levels, and manage warehouse operations. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers and stakeholders. Liaise with Suppliers and Customers: Communicate with suppliers to arrange the transportation of goods. Maintain positive relationships with customers and address their needs and concerns promptly. Resolve any issues related to shipment delays, damages, or discrepancies. Maintain Accurate Records: Keep detailed records of shipment and inventory data. Update databases and generate regular reports on logistics activities and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for shipping and handling goods.

Optimize Logistics Processes:

Identify areas for improvement in the logistics process and implement effective solutions. Develop and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize delays. Collaborate with other departments to streamline operations and improve overall supply chain performance.

Ensure Compliance and Safety:

Adhere to safety standards and regulations related to transportation and warehousing. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards. Handle hazardous materials safely and according to established protocols. Support Team and Leadership: Provide support and guidance to logistics team members. Assist in training new employees and developing team skills. Report to senior management on logistics performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

Experience:

Proven experience as a logistics coordinator or in a similar logistics role. Familiarity with logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle Transportation Management). Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.

Working Conditions This position typically involves working in an office environment, with occasional visits to warehouses and distribution centers. The role may require working outside regular business hours to accommodate shipment schedules and resolve urgent issues.

Career Path With experience and additional training, a logistics coordinator can advance to higher positions such as logistics manager, supply chain manager, or operations manager.
