The Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation (NLC) is a provincial crown corporation responsible for managing the importation, sale and distribution of beverage alcohol and cannabis within the province. The Manager, Manufacturing Operations, is responsible for all aspects of manufacturing and logistics within NLC's manufacturing plant, including the scheduling and production of finished goods for both NLC-owned and contracted brands, the warehousing of raw materials and finished goods and the distribution of those finished goods within NL, Canada and internationally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plans, controls and directs the allocation of resources to effectively manage an efficient, quality-oriented, manufacturing facility for the production and packaging of alcohol products which comply with regulatory standards and meet the demands of customer contractual standards.
  • Structures and implements an integrated production schedule for multiple production lines that is used as the plan for the daily operation of the manufacturing facility.
  • Manages a cost-effective manufacturing facility where unit costs are regularly monitored and corrective action is taken as needed to ensure that budget standards are met or exceeded.
  • Prepares the production-related elements of the budget, annual business plan, departmental strategy, key performance indicators, and requests for capital expenditures.
  • Maintains machinery performance and operation levels to meet the demands of the production schedule.
  • Oversees and manages the warehouse and inventories of finished goods and raw materials including the receiving, warehousing and shipping of those goods and materials.
  • Functions as part of a team, focused on securing new contracts with global customers.
  • Ensures the human resources functions of the manufacturing facility are managed and guides all aspects of employee and labour relations.
  • Maintains an excellent working relationship with all stakeholders associated with the operation of the facility.
  • Leads, directs and supports the safety activities and initiatives within the NLC and ensures a respectful and inclusive workplace.

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

  • Graduation from a post-secondary institution with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Food Safety or Food Technology.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a progressive production environment.
  • Experience with Materials Requirement Planning and LEAN production techniques.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations, laws and codes.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Previous experience working in a unionized environment would be an asset but is not required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary: HL 22: $81,988.92 - $106,585.64
