Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI) Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres (MOHACC)

(Contractual Position to March 31, 2025; With a Possibility of Extension)

MOHACC BACKGROUND

The Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network (MOHCCN) is a pan-Canadian initiative led by the Terry Fox Foundation (TFF) and the Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI), with the support of partner institutions across the country. Focusing on precision medicine, it will harness the power and productivity of our talented pan-Canadian cancer research community to improve cancer diagnoses, predict how different people will respond to treatments, and deliver more personalized and effective treatments with fewer side-effects. The National Network will involve five regional consortia of hospitals, cancer centres, Universities, and research institutes across Canada. The Atlantic Cancer Consortium (ACC) has brought together cancer resources from across Atlantic Canada and currently has 4 centres: St. John's, NL; Saint John, NB; Moncton; NB; and Halifax, NS. The two-year pilot phase started in January 2021, and ACC has become a designated centre in January 2023.

DUTIES

Reporting directly to the ACC Co-Leads, the successful candidate will perform highly responsible administrative duties and liaise with other team members situated in the four Atlantic Provinces. Duties include using independent judgement in responding to inquiries; preparing reports, letters, memos, and grant applications; developing presentations in support of ACC Co-leads and 12 cohorts; organizing/assembling meeting packages and ensuring appropriate follow-up; preparing agendas and serving as the recording secretary to five ACC committees; tracking meeting outcomes to ensure appropriate follow-up is undertaken; tracking deadlines and other action items to ensure appropriate follow-up, related to project logistics; serving as a point of contact for other consortia members, TFRI staff, government officials, other Atlantic Canadian universities, and Memorial faculty/staff; writing the cohort newsletter quarterly; arranging conferences, seminars, and events; making related travel arrangements for ACC leads; implementing tools and processes to track activities and reporting requirements for ACC logistical teams; helping to prepare financial reports; maintaining electronic records; sharing national network/consortium level information; circulating consortium announcements/policy updates; providing coverage for the Project Manager when required; other performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (3-5 years) working in research administration with progressive advancement/responsibility; working in a team environment; completion of an Undergraduate degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience working with Microsoft Office is required. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills, while also displaying adaptability, good judgment, and a strong work ethic. The ability to work as part of a team is required. Familiarity with Memorial University, as well as experience in strategic planning is considered an asset.

SALARY $56,212 - $65,938 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
