Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday

Job summary
We're on the lookout for an engaging, adaptable, and purpose-oriented Director, HR Business Partner to join our A-team, providing support across our Operations Functions on a 12-month contract basis. Leading multiple facilities across various Canadian provinces demands a keen understanding of diverse perspectives and needs.

 

As a seasoned HR leader, you embody a deep commitment to crafting a seamless employee journey and devising strategies that empower individuals to reach their professional milestones. You possess a breadth of experience as a generalist, capable of crafting and executing strategies from the ground up. Your expertise extends to designing and implementing performance management frameworks, spearheading initiatives in organizational effectiveness, managing complex employee relations matters, mergers and acquisitions, talent cultivation, and fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as core values within our organization.

 

Your role transcends mere advisory; you are a true collaborator with the business, adept at leveraging human capital strategies to drive tangible outcomes. You serve as a trusted confidant and mentor to both leaders and employees alike.

 

Travel will be required and spending time on-site is an expectation of the role. Travel to sites include various locations in Ontario, Whistler BC, Comox BC.

 

This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President of Human Resources

 

As a Director, HR Business Partner – Operations & Supply Chain you will…

  • Lead the HR Strategy for Operations Function: Development and execution of comprehensive HR strategies tailored to the unique needs of Operations business function including: Science, Quality Assurance, Product Development, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Logistics. Serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to client groups, offering insights and guidance on HR-related matters.
  • Mentor and Develop HR Business Partners: Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of HR Business Partners stationed across multiple Canadian locations. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance within the HR team, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and values.
  • Enhance Employee Engagement and Experience: Develop and execute strategies with business functions to enhance employee engagement and improve the end-to-end employee experience. Assess existing processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Drive Organizational Change Initiatives: Lead organizational change efforts by developing change management strategies, facilitating communication, and guiding employees and leaders through transitions. Champion a culture of agility and adaptability to support organizational growth and evolution.
  • Lead Training and Development Programs: Design and lead training programs aimed at enhancing employee skills, knowledge, and capabilities. Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop relevant content and ensure alignment with organizational objectives and employee development needs.
  • Support Talent Acquisition and Recruitment: Partner with leaders to support talent acquisition efforts, including recruitment strategies, candidate assessment, and selection processes. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and values to attract top talent.
  • Oversee Leadership Development and Succession Planning: Implement leadership development initiatives and succession planning processes to identify and develop high-potential talent within the organization. Ensure robust talent pipelines to support future leadership needs.
  • Manage Annual Performance Management Cycle: Lead the annual performance management cycle for operations client groups, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback sessions. Ensure fair and consistent performance assessment practices aligned with organizational goals.
  • Support M&A Activities: Provide support for mergers and acquisitions activities, including due diligence, integration planning, and employee transition processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transitions and alignment with organizational culture.
  • Address Employee Relations and Performance Improvement: Provide guidance and support to leaders on employee relations matters and performance improvement initiatives. Facilitate constructive dialogue and resolution to promote a positive work environment.
  • Drive HR Innovation: Identify HR opportunities and develop innovative solutions to address business challenges and enhance organizational effectiveness. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement in HR practices and processes.
  • Provide Recommendations on Compensation and Benefits: Collaborate with key stakeholders to review and develop annual compensation and benefit changes. Ensure competitiveness and alignment with industry standards and organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate on Culture and Engagement Initiatives: Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement culture and engagement initiatives that promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Foster collaboration, recognition, and employee well-being.
  • Review and Develop HR Policies/Procedures: Regularly review and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and alignment with organizational values and objectives. Drive consistency and fairness in HR practices.
  • Utilize Data for Informed Decision Making: Leverage information and analysis to support organizational decision-making related to people practices. Utilize HR analytics and metrics to measure effectiveness, identify trends, and inform future HR initiatives.


You would be the best fit for this role if you have…

  • A university Degree and 10 or more years in progressively senior HR roles
  • Experience as a HR leader who can demonstrate relationship management breadth and influence in leading, planning and executing complex/strategic initiatives
  • Previous HR experience in a high volume, operations environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current HR issues and trends
  • A proven track record of developing and executing successful talent and engagement strategies
  • Diverse functional HR expertise
  • Excellent change management skills and ability to navigate leaders and employees through change initiatives
  • High sense of urgency and ability to execute
  • Broad knowledge of Canadian HR legislation and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Prior working experience in the Cannabis industry
