Warehouse and Logistics Specialist

Company: Virtek Vision International is a leading provider of precision laser-based templating and inspection solutions.  We serve customers worldwide in the aerospace, prefabricated construction, transportation and manufacturing industries.  Our solutions enable customers to produce their products better, faster and at a lower cost.  Overview :  Virtek Vision International Inc. is looking for a Warehouse & Logistics Specialist that has had some experience shipping internationally, including the export/import compliance requirements, as well as warehousing & material handling.
Reporting into the Supply Chain group, this position will primarily focus on shipping/export/distribution, including picking/packing/material handling, as well as export compliance documentation. This role will then quickly evolve to include shared responsibilities in receiving and incoming inspection, as well as storage/warehousing & inventory control, cycle counts, order picking for production, and general production control activities.
The Warehouse & Logistics Specialist has a customer service focus for internal stake holders as well as external (customer facing), and therefore needs to be able to work collaboratively with all levels of personnel and engage in an environment that supports teamwork and respect for people.

Responsibilities:

• Logistics Paperwork/Administration:
  • Outbound: Ship Sales Orders for complex systems as well as repair parts, as well as manual shipping requests for samples, demo/tradeshow and service equipment:
    • Pick & Pack, Weights & Dims
    • Commercial Invoice
    • Packing Slip
    • Coordinate/Book Carrier – Print BOL to include in documentation package
    • Import/Export Declaration (e.g. USMCA, FDA Form for US - CERS B13 for overseas)
    • Load Truck & Confirm with Driver
  • Inbound: Organize freight from suppliers, and import documentation as necessary, provide UPS labels for equipment returning.
  • Quoting: Support Sales by providing freight quotes – working with existing carriers on pricing, based on size of shipment, incoterms, and destination.
  • Relationship management with carriers, freight brokers, customs broker.
• Material Handling & Stock Control:
  • Load and unload shipments, with the potential for repetitive lifting, and the use of material handling equipment, e.g. forklift, pallet truck etc.
  • Processing receipt of incoming material in ERP system as needed, as well as physical pallet/box break-down & re-pack as needed.
  • Locating material into proper storage bin locations and into controlled access storage.
  • Controlling the in & out of material through material requisitions or order picking.
  • Inspection of incoming and outgoing products or shipments to verify contents, count, and quality.
  • Continuous organizing/re-organizing storage, creating new bin locations and inventory transfers as needed.
  • Complete various inventory transactions in ERP software system.
  • Some inventory analysis using ERP and Excel.
• Shared responsibility over cleanliness and 5S of the warehouse.

Qualifications & Competencies:

• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Post-secondary diploma or degree - preferably in supply chain, material & operations, or related discipline.
• Experience using a forklift required.
• Must be computer savvy with knowledge and understanding of applicable software:
  • ERP system with MRP functionality
  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office applications
  • Different carrier applications, e.g. UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager.
  • CERS Portal for export declaration.
  • Must be responsive with email.
• 2-5 years of collective experience in shipping/receiving internationally, logistics administration, and inventory control. Manufacturing and/or warehouse environment preferred.
• Strong command of the English language, written and verbal, with attention to detail.
• Ability to make basic mathematical calculations on the fly, regarding costs, calculating weights and dimensions, with good accuracy.
• Physical requirements include stooping, bending, standing, climbing and lifting of between 20 kg – 30kg.
• Ability to manage multiple expectations while meeting deadlines.
• Ability and drive to take on increased levels of learning and accountability with responsibility, good judgement, and exceptional service attitude.
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude and collaborative communication interdepartmentally, while under pressure.
• Safety conscious.
• Experience with 5S/6S and lean concepts would be an asset.
