Job Description - Assistant Controller

THE COMPANY

Galvion designs, develops, and manufactures ballistic helmets and dynamic power and data management solutions for the modern battlefield. THE OPPORUNITY

The Assistant Controller is responsible for the preparation of the company's financial reporting (consolidated financial statements and management analysis), ensuring that company procedures conform to US GAAP. The Assistant Controller is responsible for researching, developing, and documenting technical accounting memos and plays an active role in the internal control structure. The Assistant Controller leads the year-end audits and supervises the Accountants in recording and maintaining general ledger for various subsidiary business units. This position is eligible for a Hybrid schedule and does require some international travel to other Galvion sites, so ability to travel is essential.

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People:

• Supervise the finance team in maintaining general ledger records and files.

Process:

• Responsible for month-end close for all entities by preparing and reviewing reconciliations, schedules, journal entries and eliminations and by ensuring the month-end tasks are performed according to the corporate time lines.

• Coordinate the development and implementation of internal controls.

• Compute and oversee corporate monthly filings tax credits.

• Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, annual, and other periodic financial statements and reports

• Lead year-end audits

• Assist in preparation monthly consolidated financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.

• Perform other financial, accounting or administrative tasks as required

Performance:

• Oversee Accounts Payable functions to ensure all invoices are entered timely and accurately, vendor relations are managed and prioritized, obligations are met timely, and the department is staffed adequately.

• Oversee Accounts Receivable functions to ensure timely collection of revenue, appropriate credit terms/limits granted to customers, accurate application of customer receipts, timely and accurate customer invoicing, and the department is staffed adequately.

• Ensure that external documents submissions and filings are accurate and timely.

• Develop short- and long-term goals and objectives for the accounting department

• Responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of effective accounting strategies, policies, and procedures, including management of the chart of accounts.

• Ensure that accounting plans, goals, and policies are consistent with established company-wide goals

• Identify the organization's strategic, operational, financial and compliance risk areas.

• Identify process improvements and efficiencies in business operations including but not limited to, financial services delivery, physical inventory, accounting, loss prevention, audit, technology, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business

• 6-9+ years' experience in accounting or finance required; in a manufacturing environment a plus.

• CPA License strongly preferred

• Strong knowledge of ERP systems, SyteLine a plus.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs: Excel (advanced) Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in French and English.

• Excellent time management, project management and planning skills required.

• Attention to detail.

• Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

• Ability to multi-task and work with a high sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.

• Energetic, passionate and positive can-do attitude a must.
