Meridia is supporting a successful and innovative plastic products manufacturer with a global footprint with their search for a dynamic Engineering Manager.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of capital projects, continuous improvement of facilities and equipment, and management of the maintenance department.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the annual capital maintenance daily operations budgets with input from Plant Manager, local team, and Regional Engineering team.
  • Responsible for the timely submission and successful execution of approved capital projects.
  • Oversee purchasing of equipment, tools, supplies, preventive maintenance schedules, service requests, and general daily events and activities associated with inventory.
  • Oversee maintenance program to assure equipment is properly serviced and documentation is complete.
  • Ensure maintenance and engineering teams are properly staffed and trained.
  • Select and manage external contractors as required.
  • Support execution of Lean Manufacturing efforts for all processes and systems within the Kitchener facility.
  • Ensure all plant maintenance operations are in compliance with the plant health & safety program, corporate policies and government regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree/diploma in relevant area and min. of 3 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with mechanical design and drafting using AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Experience in the plastic manufacturing industry is an asset.
  • Ability to perform failure analysis and provide solution-based ideas.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Intermediate experience with MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset and high ability to problem solve.
