Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) will be responsible for performing duties to repair and maintain various types of production equipment for the manufacturing of sheet metal and extrusion products, including lasers, brakes, punches, CNC machines, benders, saws and other related equipment. building and facilities requiring a broad knowledge of maintenance skills including mechanical repair, plumbing, welding, carpentry, fabrication and a basic knowledge of electrical repair. The successful candidate will be results focused and capable of working independently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Repairs & Maintenance
- CNC machines, laser cutting, brakes, routers, benders, saws, V-Mills, punches, custom machines, and hand tools
- Coordinating appropriate contractors to perform the repair if required.
- Maintain Safety Lock-out tags
- Ensure all Safety mechanisms are fully operational
Coordinate Installation and/or Movement of Equipment
- Prepare site for installation (Electrical, Air, Gas, Water, Network, Lighting)
- Assist and monitor the movement of equipment to ensure it is done safely and without damaging other equipment or facility
- Work with Manufacturer to determine TPM procedure and schedule, including basic knowledge of operation (common problems/issues)
- Work with EHS to produce Safe Work procedure
Maintain Tool/Parts Area
- Maintain all maintenance tools in top working order
- Maintain inventory of replacement parts, including assisting Purchasing in sourcing maintenance parts
Knowledge and Skill
- Minimum Level 4 Apprentice Mechanic (Millwright), Red Seal designation or equivalent.
- A strong industrial and mechanical background.
- Experience with electrical equipment (controls, motors) and electronic computer systems.
- Using TPM Software (MP2), or similar maintenance software would be considered an asset.
- A desire to continuously upgrade their knowledge and skill in the trade.
- Strong troubleshooting and computer skills with systematic approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work under minimal supervision and be dependable. Some on-call work will be required for other shifts
- Must be able to travel within Canada and the US, hold a valid passport and driver’s license.
