Job Summary
The Manager, Onboarding and Events is responsible for leading the pre-and onboarding as well as the Talent Acquisition (TA) events strategies and their implementation. The incumbent collaborates with senior leaders, Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs), TA leaders as well as external stakeholders. The position directs and optimizes pre-and onboarding strategies and TA events, evaluates and monitors their effectiveness and implements best in class practices. Furthermore, the incumbent works closely with the TA team to identify strategic events in key recruitment locations to support business needs.
Main Responsibilities Pre-Boarding and Onboarding Processes Implementation· Develop strategy and implement onboarding processes including surveys and new hire conversations for all employees
· Regularly monitor, review and update onboarding sites and materials including the site for people managers, e-learnings and all the documentation such as checklists, new hire and manager messages
· Analyze and measure results of onboarding strategies and surveys and adjust where necessary
· Prepare and present quarterly onboarding updates for senior Human Resources (HR) leaders and HRBPs
· Liaise and coach Hiring Managers at all levels, including senior managers and employees who are not adhering to onboarding processes
Oversee and Implement Onboarding Events· Collaborate with senior business and HR leaders across the network to develop local onboarding events for new hires including the creation of supporting materials and speaking notes
· Lead the execution of all local onboarding events
· Measure and monitor results to evaluate success of onboarding events and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
· Oversee event budget and track expenditures
TA Events Selection Process and Coordination· Strategically map and lead TA recruitment events processes, including identifying types of events, locations, stakeholders, and partners, in line with CN’s corporate and diversity strategy as well as business needs
· Work with external partners to secure strategic events
· Monitor and measure results of events and adjust strategies accordingly
· Handle the event coordinator and their successful delivery of TA events
· Embody, execute, and strategically align to CN’s people vision
Working ConditionsThe role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular work week from Monday to Friday with a possibility of afterhours work during important projects or events. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The role requires occasional travel within Canada and US (up to 30%).
Requirements ExperienceHuman Resources, Event Planning and Project Management
· Between 8 to 15 years of experience in a similar role
o Experience in event planning and execution
o Experience developing, monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of strategies and making data-driven recommendations
o Experience working with senior leaders providing coaching and recommendations
o Experience in project management
o Experience leading and motivating teams
Education/Certification/Designation· Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Human Resources, Communications or related field

· Fluently bilingual, both written and verbal (English, French)
