N Medical Device Design Engineer

Seeking a talented medical device Product Design Engineer for a Toronto company. As part of their cross-functional engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing new products, as well as improving existing ones.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conceptualizing and designing new product components and systems.
• Creating detailed 3D models, drawings, and schematics using Solidworks CAD software.
• Optimizing designs for improved quality, cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.
• FMEA, V&V, tolerance analysis, prototype building and testing.
• Conducting design analysis and risk assessments.
• Developing technical documentation (DMR and DHF) and testing procedures.
• Building and testing prototypes to validate design requirements.
• Troubleshooting and resolving product or process issues.
• Collaborating with various stakeholders, including customers and suppliers.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS / B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in medical device product design, preferably in instrumentation or manufacturing.
• Proficiency in 3D Solidworks CAD modeling and detailing.
• Knowledge of design principles, quality systems, and industry standards (e.g. GD&T, ISO 13485 or ISO 9001).
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes like injection molding (preferred).
• Basic understanding of electronics (preferred).
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• P.Eng. status an asset.
