Job Description - Temporary Shipping Clerk

Temporary Shipping Clerk Location Calgary, AB :

Shipping Clerk

Temporary 6 Month Position - End Date November 2024

Purpose of the Job

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for all processes of the shipping and receiving components of our operation. The successful candidate will handle receipts of incoming orders, and the seamless processing of outgoing shipments. This position will develop a working knowledge of a warehouse organization, and create proper and detailed shipping documentation. When necessary, he or she will also cross-train and participate in other aspects of the business, including inventory and administrative tasks.

Duties and Essential Job Functions

-Resolve any issues involving missing or damaged items on incoming shipments, damaged packaging and/or incomplete shipments

-Maintain Shipping/ Receiving logs; track and record items that are shipped and received

-Inspect incoming materials and equipment for defects

-Determine space requirements and weight estimates for future shipments and request quotes from freight forwarders

-Ensure that outgoing shipments are properly packaged, marked and that customer shipping instructions are followed

-Understand all documents required for incoming and outgoing freight, especially for international shipments

-Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platforms to storage, inventory and/or work areas

-Follows all company work processes

-Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

-High School Diploma

-Minimum 3 years of relevant experience working in a Shipping and Receiving/General Warehouse function

-Demonstrated capability of working with MRP systems, preferably Syteline

-Must have previous international shipping and receiving experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

-Familiarity with computerized ERP systems would be considered an asset

-Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

-Must be able to work well under tight deadlines, handling multiple projects at once

-Maintain a friendly, professional behavior at all times

-Strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

-Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

-Manufacturing/warehouse environment

-Sometimes subject to loud noises
