Accounting Analyst

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring an Accounting Analyst on a permanent basis on our Finance team. This position is a hybrid opportunity and can be based out of any of our offices in Saskatoon, SK or Edmonton, AB.

Are you familiar with full cycle accounting? We are looking for someone with accounting experience that is excited about helping and supporting others and enjoys the result of building stronger teams and accounting processes for the future.

What you'll do:

• Prepare budgets, financial statements, reports and perform various bookkeeping duties while engaging with independent and corporate retailers on monthly basis.
• Assist the retailers with the interpretation and analysis of financial statements, help with variance analysis, and make recommendations to streamline operating procedures at retail level.
• Review and distribute Independent statements as prepared by other department staff.
• Provide support and financial analysis to the various Independent Business functional areas. Complete assessments of independent store viability and sustainability and provide recommendations based on available industry data.
• Regularly review accounting related procedures at store level for opportunities to improve the reporting process and provide support to department accounting team regarding accounting related questions; assist the team with learning new techniques in various software programs.

You will work closely with your team, our Independent retailers, and the Independent Business Unit and will report into the Manager, Financial Accounting. This team strives to cultivate a culture of support, inclusivity and high performance.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Accounting and:

• Have 3 - 6 years of relevant experience in accounting.
• Have a Bachelor of Commerce/Business with an Accounting major (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
• Are working towards or have a professional accounting designation.
• Are familiar with QuickBooks, Excel and Sage would be an asset.
