Job Description - Analyst, Treasury and Capital Markets Risk Governance

This role sits within Laurentian Bank.

Within the Treasury and Capital Markets risk governance team (Issuer, counterparty, market, liquidity and interest rate structural risks), the incumbent's main responsibilities will be to make credit applications and monitor issuer and counterparty risk.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conducts requests (and annual reviews) for issuer and counterparty limits (securities, derivatives, repos, etc.) received from the Treasury desks and the Capital Markets group:
    • Receives business lines needs,
    • Performs risk analyses,
    • Offers recommendations,
    • Participates in the submission of applications to the Credit Group,
  • Rigorously monitors issuer and counterparty limits on a daily basis ,
  • Participates in the development, optimization and improvement of issuer and counterparty limit tracking tools and authorization processes,
  • Participates in the overall framework for issuer and counterparty risk management (policies, procedures, reporting, measures, authorization and limit monitoring processes) and implements necessary changes,
  • Participates in risk management disclosure to the senior management and to the Risk Management Committee of the Board,
  • Collaborates in the development of new monitoring and reporting methods based on financial products and managers' needs,
  • Is interested in the interrelationships between issuer, counterparty, liquidity and market risk management and stays informed of regulatory developments,
  • Participates in the review, development and evolution of the management of the various risks related to the activities of the Treasury and Capital Markets sectors,
  • Participates in analysis of new Treasury and Capital Markets product requests,
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of his/her area of expertise, current legislation, industry policies, programs and procedures, and is on the lookout for market trends.
  • Performs any other task of the same nature or of a general nature requested by his or her supervisor or required during his or her duties.

 


Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Finance or related field,
  • Professional certification (FRM, CFA, PRM) in progress or completed would be an asset,
  • Up to two years of relevant experience in risk management an asset,
  • Any other combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills and abilities

  • Good knowledge and interest in programming,
    • Knowledge of VBA and proficiency in advanced Excel,
    • Knowledge of SQL an asset,
  • Good communication skills,
  • Good writing skills,
  • Teamwork,
  • Autonomy and curiosity,
  • Fluency in French and English, oral and written*.

 

* Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
