Job Description - Communications Coordinator

CASA Mental Health’s Communications team is growing to support CASA’s five-year roadmap. The Communications Coordinator will support the organization’s social media presence, as well as the department’s people and processes. Job Details Salary range/wage range : $61,360 - $76,440
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day
Primary location:  Hybrid/CASA Downtown
Union: Exempt
FTE: 1.00
Status:  Permanent

About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Communications Coordinator will join a team of communications professionals (specialists, coordinator, graphic designer) to provide quality communications support, products and strategies to CASA Mental Health leaders, staff and partners. The Communications Coordinator will:

 
  • Lead CASA’s social media strategy, from development to execution to measurement:
    • Work with multiple departments, including Communications, to develop an identified and singular voice and tone for CASA’s social media presence.
    • Validate or develop content pillars that will guide the creation of social media content for all active channels.
    • Develop social media content that showcases CASA’s people and programs.
    • Monitor and respond to comments from the online community and consider proactive engagement strategies as needed.
    • Use HeyOrca or equivalent social media scheduling system.
    • Monitor social media trends, keywords and general online dialogue.
  • Support both internal and external communication, focused on CASA’s main audiences: patients and families, partner organizations, donors and supporters, volunteers and other departments within the organization.
  • Provide general communications support to the department and organization, including basic design and layout, writing and editing, and content development.
  • Create and maintain template material, such as CASA’s letterhead, PowerPoint templates, poster templates, forms and the CASA email signature template, as well as any policies, guidelines and standards related to these products.
  • Advise on digital storytelling throughout the organization, including seeking patient stories and working with departments on creating and developing stories that explain what CASA does and the value it provides.
  • Contribute to CASA’s employee intranet by posting news items, updating pages and ensuring a consistent look, feel and approach to intranet content and structure.
  • Identify and implement regular updates to publications and promotional materials.
  • Provide administrative support for internal newsletters (i.e. maintain distribution lists, collect and organize content, and collect analytics).
  • Monitor shared email inboxes and escalate as necessary.
  • Assist the Communications team with website maintenance and content development, as needed.
  • Draft correspondence and reports, and develop presentation material or other communications for the Communications team and its internal clients.
Qualifications
  • Experience managing corporate social media accounts is a requirement.
  • Understanding of graphic design principles and experience with a graphic design program is an asset.
  • Post-secondary or continuing education in communications, marketing, journalism or public relations. A certificate or diploma in a relevant subject may be supplemented with equivalent experience working in a similar role.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience in WordPress, Elementor, ThoughtFarmer or other web management programs.
  • Experience in Asana or other project management software is an asset.
  • Experience with writing, proofreading, editing, web/social media content and communications plans.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive work relationships with staff and leadership, while working independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Experience working in mental health, non-profit, philanthropy or related fields is an asset.
