Job Description - Community Investment Specialist

Community Investment Specialist Location Calgary, AB :

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Community Investment (CI) Manager , the Community Investment Specialist is an integral part of the Community Investment team. This individual brings strong communication skills, outstanding organizational capabilities and superior relationship building skills. The Community Investment Specialist will spearhead the day-to-day execution of community partner initiatives, working with both internal and external stakeholders to delivery CI programs.

The Community Investment Specialist, with support from the CI Coordinator and the Grassroots Program Manager will be accountable to build and maintain community relationships to create exceptional community activation plans, which includes reporting, evaluation, and analysis. The CI Specialist will support the Grassroots Giving Program and will also support the Manager of CI in planning the annual UFA CI program. The CI Specialist may be required to travel up to 20 per cent of the time which could include evenings and weekends.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support and direct the day-to-day execution, performance and reporting of community partner initiatives, working with both external and internal stakeholders:
    • Build and maintain community relationships.
    • Proactively identify and assess new partnership opportunities, seeking to maximize mutual benefit.
    • Assist with the refinement of CI KPIs and related evaluation methods to enhance program performance.
    • Provide monthly program reports, summarizing key KPIs and desired program outcomes.
    • Plan program deliverables and related promotions / communications.
    • Advise, execute, promote, monitor, and evaluate UFA's community programs, with timely delivery.
    • Consult with CI team on community requests and opportunities.
    • Monitor and assign community investment requests.
    • Provide line of sight for internal teams on community partner programs.
    • Attend community events when additional support is required.
  • Develop compelling content for the annual grassroots program that supports community impact storytelling and drives awareness and engagement.
  • Provide support and backup to CI Manager in evaluating, planning and administrating the CI program portfolio.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
  • Integrate plans and collaborate where required with UFA business units.
  • Coordinate event planning where required.
  • Evaluation and reporting support for applicant grant proposals.
  • Provide recommendations and opportunities for employee volunteer programs and assist with volunteer program design and evolution.

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in business, non-profit sector, communications, marketing, or relevant professional experience.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in social impact, community investment, community relations or communications roles.
  • Strong process and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, manage multiple projects, priorities, and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient skills in MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Outlook).
  • Proficient reporting and data analysis skills, with experience generating dashboards and presentations for senior management reporting (MS Power BI or similar tool experience would be an asset)
  • Demonstrated workflow management software and / or CRM experience considered an asset.
  • Willingness to network, contribute to brainstorming sessions, share thoughts and ideas, and connect people where mutual benefit may be possible.
  • Ability to be proactive and a self-starter who can troubleshoot problems independently and share solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Social media experience an asset.
  • Valid driver's license.
