Job Description - Financial Accounting Supervisor

Work Arrangement:  Hybrid

Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Supervisor, Financial Accounting to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, Financial Accounting in the Gas Services Business Unit (GBU), part of Pembina’s Facilities Division.

 

The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas gathering, compression, shallow cut processing and both sweet and sour deep cut processing services for its customers, primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts. 

 

The Supervisor, Financial Accounting will be responsible for coordinating the financial accounting services required by the business unit and provide strategic advice to enable increased efficiency and effectiveness of the business. 

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of the business unit’s monthly and quarterly financial reporting package, connecting financial performance to underlying business drivers, perform financial analysis and trending related to business unit KPI metrics;
  • Coordinate inputs and quarterly reports for GBU/PGI to support corporate disclosure preparation.
  • Support determination of accounting for non-standard transactions or unique contractual changes resulting from new business activity or new IFRS implications;
  • Develop and maintain solid relationships with GBU and PGI leadership team, Business Development team, Commercial Services team, Operations team, and NBU Controller team to ensure financial information flows are smooth and in a coordinated manner;
  • Coordinate with Operations on Opex reporting and analysis monthly to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness;
  • Support the annual business unit budget development;
  • Direct the implementation and documentation of internal processes and procedures consistent with accounting best practices;
  • Assist in internal and external audit processes; 
  • Participate in ad hoc Corporate or Business unit projects as assigned;

Leadership and Management:

  • Independently implement functional or procedural efficiency improvements as required; 
  • Provide recommendations for changes and enhancements to business practices to senior management based on thorough analysis of financial performance data; 
  • Manage a team of several individuals to achieve required results within tight timelines; and 
  • Develop staff skills through mentoring, training and accredited professional designation education, interacting with internal and external stakeholders, build and maintain strong business relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Professional designation (CA, CMA, CGA) with 10+ years’ experience preferably in the energy infrastructure and midstream industry; 
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills coupled with outstanding organizational attributes and a team oriented mindset;
  • Proven ability to lead a team in a dynamic environment while ensuring company objectives and initiatives are met within the specific timelines; 
  • Trustworthy, with the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality in maintaining business dealings and confidential matters; and 
  • Excellent knowledge and application of MS office tools, particularly, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and experience with SAP is required.

     

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
