Job Description - Human Resources Generalist

At Burnside the difference is our people. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, results-driven Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The successful candidate will report to the Human Resources Manager and work closely with members of the Human Resources team to carry out a broad range of human resources functions, with a focus on full cycle recruiting. Our HR Team operates from our Orangeville, ON office, yet we welcome applicants who may favor any of our office locations in Ontario. As a pivotal member of our team, you will closely collaborate with a wide variety of hiring managers and senior leaders across our network of ten offices, guiding them through the entire recruitment process. From crafting compelling job advertisements to conducting interviews and extending offers, you'll play a crucial role in both attracting and screening motivated and talented individuals seeking mutually rewarding employment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively source candidates and build a robust talent pipeline using various channels;
  • Participate in full-cycle recruitment processes across all offices, including collaborating with hiring managers and senior leaders, crafting job postings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, conducting interviews, managing candidate communication, facilitating reference checks, and drafting offer letters;
  • Assist in onboarding and orientation processes for new hires;
  • Conduct check-ins with new employees during the probationary period;
  • Stay abreast of trends, internal policies, and legislative standards impacting recruitment;
  • Foster a collaborative team culture focused on accountability, support, continuous learning, and efficient processes;
  • Perform all duties in genuine alignment with company values and practices, and assist with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of recruitment experience (preferably in a private sector professional services environment);
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or related field;
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial employment standards, legislation, market trends, and industry best practices;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; experience with applicant tracking systems and social media recruitment tools (e.g., UKG, LinkedIn Recruiter) is advantageous;
  • Self-motivated with strong perseverance and independence;
  • High level of critical thinking, analysis, and attention to detail;
  • Ability to build effective relationships and communicate across all levels of the organization;
  • Commitment to exceptional customer service and urgency;
  • Desire for continual improvement and a team-oriented mindset; and
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and provide support across multiple offices.
