Mortgage Closer

We are currently recruiting for a Mortgage Closer. The individual chosen will be responsible for processing all mortgage loan applications through closing according to secondary market as well as credit union guidelines and procedures. this job offer requires being on-site.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



»Preparing necessary closing documentation, including the Closing Disclosure, funding sheet, TIL, escrow disclosure, checks/drafts, etc., for all 1st mortgage closings and equity loans over $75,000.

»Preparing necessary closing documentation and performing closings for equity loans $75,000 and below at our Credit Union Center (CUC).

»Checking files for proper documentation prior to closing such as check conditions are cleared, rescissions, commitment letters and lock-ins are in order, etc.

»Communicating with members, attorneys, and staff to facilitate the setup of mortgage closings and updating information in mortgage software prior to closings.

»Reviewing closing packages returned from attorney's office prior to funding loans.

»Performing tasks of Mortgage Processor and Opener/Clerk as needed and reviewing and organizing closing pipeline and assist as necessary in getting loans closed.

»Assisting with post-closing document correction, assisting with reports as necessary and performing other related tasks as assigned.

»Assuring member service is top priority including treating members and other employees professionally with courtesy and respect and upholding MHV Service Standards.

»Developing and maintaining a working expertise of all types of mortgage products including secondary market guidelines and procedures.

»Closing loans properly and accurately as well as in a timely fashion once they are cleared to be closed.

»Assisting Mortgage Processor(s) and Mortgage Opener/Clerk with tasks as needed.

»Making valid suggestions regarding improvements to processes, forms, or functions in work area.

»Acting as a good team player which includes promoting a positive, productive and supportive work environment.

»Staying abreast of current trends affecting the financial services industry and having an overall expertise of the credit union, its policies and procedures.

»Continually expanding expertise and develop expertise.

»One year to three years of similar or related practice.

»A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific expertise acquired through an apprenticeship program.

»Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involves a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

»Strong time management and the capability to manage multiple workloads with prosperous results. The capability to work independently with organizational expertise, excellent verbal and written communication expertise, and listening expertise, are crucial to this function. Candidates must also be able to execute problem analysis and problem resolution and have above average interpersonal expertise and strong computer expertise (i.e., Microsoft Office).

»Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to execute primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Normal range of vision and hearing abilities required. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

»Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

»Must be able to execute job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to execute responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.

»Work is generally performed within an office environment, primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, standing, walking, occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use, standard office equipment available.
