Position: Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: $38/hr - $46/hr

VMAC has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer to join its growing Operations team. This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to collaborate with Engineering teams across all departments to achieve targets set by the management team to meet strategic goals of the company and realize business growth. This position will be responsible to liaise with internal and external customers and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Implements engineering changes; manage change control for new and existing product implementations/ revisions.
  • Initiate and evaluates cost studies, product suggestions and value analyses.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities and establishing.
  • Plan for and monitors project budgets.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Collaborate on the design and analysis of mechanical components and systems, supporting the implementation into production.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures.
  • Work with Supply Chain team on sourcing of components and materials for new product implementation.
  • Verify conformity of outsourced components and parts against specifications and drawings as required.
  • Test prototypes of new products to an extent sufficient to verify conformity with the development specification.
  • Create technical documentation using, SolidWorks, & M2M.
  • Create VTR's, standards, procedures and keep accurate records on all projects.
  • Define, document, and build equipment for product and component testing.

Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate technical degree is an asset.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of relevant industry work experience.
  • P.Eng. designation / APEGBC membership is an asset.
  • Lean Manufacturing training or experience is an asset.
