• Provides nursing care to emergency patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team

About this location/unit: With a dedicated team of health-care professionals, state-of-the-art facilities, and a commitment to excellence in patient care, Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) serves as a vital hub for health care in Williams Lake and the surrounding area. The hospital offers a comprehensive range of services, including emergency care, surgical procedures, specialized treatments, laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, and ongoing public health support. As a smaller facility, CMH offers health-care professionals the opportunity to practice with a degree of autonomy rarely found in larger centers. Covering a vast catchment area extending from Bella Coola on the coast to the Cariboo mountains in the east, and serving a significant Indigenous population, the hospital presents a chance to truly make a difference in the lives of a diverse range of individuals. Currently, the emergency department features one trauma room, a minor surgery room, monitoring bays, a gynecology room that also serves as a negative pressure room, a designated observation area, and a two-bay cast room. Staffing comprises a mix of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and emergency department physicians providing round-the-clock coverage, catering to approximately 21,000 patient visits annually. Our Hospital Acute Unit (HAU) offers three high-acuity beds. On-site facilities include laboratory and diagnostic imaging services, as well as outpatient hemodialysis units. Additionally, residential beds are seamlessly integrated within the medical-surgical unit for comprehensive patient care.
