As a vital part of the People & Culture team, this role specifically will be an in-office position working out of our beautiful downtown Victoria, BC office. What does a day look like in my role? The People & Culture role will be reporting directly to the Director of People & Culture, and will have the opportunity to support multiple areas of our amazing people programming and culture that we have built at Redbrick and across all of our portfolio companies. This role will be heavily involved in supporting the talent acquisition team, our ever growing DEI program, culture initiatives, employee onboarding and jumping in to support on various ad hoc projects. The ideal candidate will be passionate about a career in People & Culture, and hungry for junior generalist experience on a forward thinking, innovative people team, where no day is the same. This is what you need to know - As a People & Culture Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for - Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding
  • Drafting job postings; posting on various applicable online platforms
  • Ensuring open opportunities are posted on company socials
  • Supporting the Talent Acquisition team with screening applications and conducting pre-screen interviews
  • Completing reference checks
  • Coordinating and representing Redbrick at various career fairs throughout the year
  • Full cycle coordination of our co-op program -
    • Initiate co-op hire request with managers
    • Maintaining and building relationships with schools across Canada and the USA
    • Posting with schools and on corporate site
    • Conducting pre-screen interviews
    • Coordinating manager interviews
    • New hire orientations for co-ops
    • Facilitate meet n’ greets and welcome lunch
  • Go-to person on the People & Culture team to collaborate with Marketing on culture community related initiatives (eg. earth day, best employer award submissions, pride)
  • Working closely with the Marketing team on external employer brand content
Employee Onboarding
  • Work closely with the IT Admin to ensure all equipment is ready and shipped
  • Office and building walk through for new hires in Victoria
  • Company wide new hire orientations
  • Send out new hire email on first day showcasing perks and benefits
Employee Programs
  • Coordinate the employee Nutrition program
  • Coordinate the Redbrick Giving Back programs
  • Coordinate the Mammoth Climate program
  • Own the Worktango Employee Recognition program
  • Administer the GeenShield+ Employee Mental Wellness & Assistance program
Communication & Employee Resources
  • Create the monthly Brick x Brick internal newsletter
  • Maintain all updates on the Redbrick Connect site
  • Project coordination for the quarterly All Hands videos
Dei
  • Working closely with the Sr. People & Culture Specialist on the cross-company DEI program
  • Coordinate and facilitate DEI initiatives and committee meetings
  • Community relationships, partnerships and events
Administrative
  • Expenses for the People & Culture team, as well as for the Chief People Officer
  • Keeping track of team events, employee milestones, volunteer and charity initiatives
  • Support the People & Culture team on various projects, such as, but not limited to -
    • Slides for meetings or training sessions
    • Engagement survey presentation slides
    • Amending policies and handbooks as requested
  • Additional responsibilities as requested
After 1 week
  • Introduction to G Suite, Zoom, Slack and other tools
  • Gain administrator access to all employee perk programs
  • Met with each member of the People & Culture team and key stakeholders
  • Familiar with how Shared Services supports Redbrick’s portfolio of companies
  • A solid understanding of the benefits and perks offered
After 1 month
  • Familiar with day-to-day flow
  • Understands role and responsibilities in coordinating the co-op program
  • Screened multiple candidate applications and posted a few job posting
  • Multiple updates on the Redbrick Connect site
  • Launched first Brick x Brick employee newsletter
  • Attended first DEI committee meeting
  • Introductions with community DEI partners
After 6 months
  • Full ownership of tasks and responsibilities
  • Completed all tasks of a full-cycle co-op term
  • Onboarded a few new hires
  • Expert knowledge of our employee perks
  • Coordinated a team giving back initiative
What we would like to see in you. Every Redbricker has three things in common - We’re curious, hungry, and good-humoured. We try our best to balance hard work with good, old-fashioned fun. As a Executive Assistant with Redbrick, there are extra specialties we’re on the lookout for -
  • Education - diploma or degree in Human Resources is mandatory
  • Experience - 1-2 years experience in an HR or relevant/transferable role
  • HR Knowledge - basic generalist understanding - employment law, recruitment, HRIS functionality, human rights, DEI, HRIS
  • Tech Savvy - proficient in modern technology tools; G-suite experience is an asset
  • Communication - exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidentiality - must have the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
