Role description:

The General Accounting Specialist role is within the General Ledger Accounting team based in Toronto Canada and is part of the wider Arcadis Global Onshore and Accounting Finance community.

This role will be part of the team responsible for standardised financial reporting, implementing, and maintaining an effective and efficient framework of operational general ledger accounting and statutory compliance with established company policies, generally accepted accounting principles and local regulations.

Working in the General Accounting team, the role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounting close activities for all Canadian entities that ultimately drives financial information and reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. This role includes but not limited to Onshore treasury operational activities and cash flow reporting.

Role accountabilities:

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Complete month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely financial reporting in accordance with Company requirements
• Perform detailed review, analysis and reconciliations of general ledger accounts and complex journal entries.
• Cross train with other accounting staff to provide support when needed
• Assist with year-end Audits.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS policies and procedures
• Reviewing weekly cash forecasts and monitoring the cash position of the company alerting management of any significant variances
• Manage the intercompany accounting and reporting process, including intercompany, reconciliations, journal entries, and quarterly intercompany balance matching.
• Provide technical support on current accounting standards (such as IFRS 16) and local statutory requirements that have an impact on accounting operation
• Managing internal and external audit requirements and engaging with key stakeholders as appropriate
• Key player in the ERP Oracle migration project.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree in Accounting/Finance with recognised professional accounting qualification (Canadian CPA or equivalent)
• Previous experience with financial reporting and auditing
• Excellent knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) and tax regulations
• Strong leadership skills, with ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal and written
• Strong analytical and investigative skills
• Knowledge and experience in an international and multi-currency environment
• Oracle, BST, OneStream ERP systems and Excel high proficiency experience an advantage

The salary range for this position is $70,738 - $88,422. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
