Story Behind the Need

• Business group: GOCT Solution Architecture & Engineering – innovation team works with emerging technologies to manage efficiencies and enhance existing processes
• Project: Chatbot – enhancements and maintenance.
• The team is seeking a Python Software Engineer who will be responsible for training models for Chatbot, including troubleshooting and possibility of working on additional projects. Project is in production, working on enhancement and working on additional instances.

Typical Day in Role:

• Work within in a dynamic team environment, having strong communication skills as they will be working with Senior Developer, Business Analyst and cross functional teams
• Work independently following instructional guide
• Writing coding with Python, training models and troubleshooting issues for Chatbot
• Be flexible and thrive in an evolving Linux environment
• Analyze highly complex business requirements; generate technical specifications to design or redesign complex software components and applications

• Adapt to change quickly and adjust work accordingly in a positive manner
• Involved in communications with business users
• Conduct validation of requirements for user KBs (knowledge bases)
• Tech stack: Python, Flask, MongoDB, Redis
• Back-end developer role – may get pulled into front end if have skillset

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 5+ years as a Software Engineer, Software Developer or related field in IT
• 5+ years of combined coding experience with Python and Flask (Provide examples of how it was used in previous roles/projects)
• 2+ years’ experience working in the Linux environment
• 2+ years’ experience with MongoDB
• 2+ years’ experience with Redis

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Experience with Node JS
• Experience with SQL is a plus
• Experience working with JIRA and Confluence

Soft Skills Required:

• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to be able to work well with technical peers and business stakeholders at different levels within the organization.
• Strong decision making, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences.
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related IT field required

Best VS. Average Candidate:

• Ideal candidate is a strong Python developer, who has recent experience working with all the listed tools

o One round interview – Hiring Manager & Senior Developer (1 hour) – coding exercises (1-2 questions) provided live in the interview with prompt, candidate needs to share screen to show solutioning; in Python; technical and behavioral questions
o Possibility of second round interview if needed to decide between candidates
