Hydrostor, a pioneer in Advanced Compressed Air Energy Storage (A-CAES) systems, is seeking an Operator to join our team in Goderich, Ontario. Your Mission: As an Operator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Goderich A-CAES (Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage) facility. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for on-site health and safety management, operational monitoring, maintenance coordination, and regulatory compliance. Your contributions will have a significant impact on the reliability and performance of our energy storage facility. Your Day-to-Day Adventures: Manage on-site health and safety protocols, reporting incidents, and ensuring a safe working environment in accordance with Ontario law. Conduct remote and on-site monitoring of the facility's operational status, promptly responding to any issues or emergencies. Safely operate and oversee the facility's equipment and systems. Coordinate maintenance activities, including scheduling, cost estimation, and resource allocation. Maintain inventory control of spare parts and equipment. Prepare and submit regulatory reports and compliance documentation. Collaborate in the development of monthly and annual operating plans. Provide regular reporting on facility operations during both routine and unplanned events. Offer operational insights and support for future facility development projects. Perform additional activities related to A-CAES operations as directed. Performing general housekeeping duties. Procedure and Policy development. Who You Are: This would be a great opportunity for someone who is looking to transition their career from oil & gas, processing facilities, etc. into the renewable energy sector. We are seeking an individual with a strong commitment to safety and a solid background in power engineering and/or the trades. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to problem-solving, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent communication skills. Adaptability, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of equipment operations and minor maintenance tasks are essential for success in this role. What You Bring Must-Haves: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Able to work a varied schedule with flexibility to accommodate on-site responsibilities during weekends, nights and emergencies as needed. The nature of the role may require potential shift work, and the ability to adapt to changing schedules and demands. Preferred Skills: Class 4 Power Engineer certification or Journeyperson Certification or equivalent. Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others. Willing to work in a diverse industrial environment. Experience in the operation and minor maintenance of machinery, including compressor, turbine heat exchangers and pumps. Effective communication skills. Strong multi-tasking, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Self-directed with a high level of ownership. Teamwork mindset – the ability to work with various functions and personalities to achieve a common goal. Incumbents will be required to work at heights, climb stairs and/ladders, have sufficient dexterity and strength to operate process equipment, turn valves, etc. Able to tolerate periodic hot, inside working conditions or cold outside conditions.
