Job Description - 26-005- Operations Duty Supervisor-Casual Employment

Operations Duty Supervisor


 


Are you organized, can balance many different tasks and can work autonomously? Are you capable of working in emotional and high-stress situations? Are you good at solving problems? Then this might be the perfect fit for you!



The Operations Duty Supervisor (DOps) performs activities required to meet the needs of our paramedic and operations teams. The DOps will perform specialized tasks requiring time and attention and will utilize specialized programs such as EMS Manager, work with NCC/SCC/CCC dispatch and ensure all scheduling requirements are met for each station in community. Excellent computer and communication skills and knowledge of EMS and Associated Ambulance’s collective agreements are an asset. Attention to detail and critical thinking are essential as well as the ability to have difficult conversations. 



Associated Ambulance is currently accepting expressions of interest for a casual position.  


 


Critical Competencies for success in this role are the following:


 



  • triage front-line inquiries to efficiently manage resources

  • provide guidance and assistance in managing patient transfers

  • assist in the coordination and scheduling of resources (employees and assets)

  • prioritize and coordinate responses to calls, return to service and out of service of assets and employees

  • dispatch and deploy staff according to written schedules, work orders, priorities, or protocols

  • monitor employee workloads, locations, and safety and implement fatigue management protocols based on prescribed procedures

  • manage and deploy  information technology and medical orders for front-line crews

  • liaise with Scheduling Department to support and manage workloads during after hour operations

  • review overtime and duty expense forms for accuracy, adjust as required and approve in accordance with payroll procedures

  • prepare and complete data reporting for leadership as required

  • provide organizational communication that impacts front-line delivery of services across the Province

  • record and log personnel  interactions, incident reporting and directions for follow-up


 


Working Conditions:



  • Expected: 50-60% on phone with front-lines staff and external dispatch. Expected to remain professional when faced with difficult situations.

  • Fast-paced and intense with many time constraints, outside pressures and simultaneous activities; required to prioritize, follow-up and escalate internally in addition to answering employee inquiries.

  • Will require shift work

  • This position works as casual relief.




      • Day Shifts 0700 to 1700

      • Evening Shifts 1600 to 0200 (On-call 0200 to 0700)





  • Must be able to work without constant and direct supervision.

  • This position is based out of Acheson Station Offices. Upon approval from your Supervisor or Manager, you may, from time to time, work at an alternate (station) location.



Employment Requirements:



  • Emergency Communications and Response Certificate or unrestricted registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP); recommended, not required. Equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Excellent attention to detail and computer skills.

  • Outstanding communication & customer service skills.

  • Ability to make decisions under intense pressure

  • Expert communication skills

  • Knowledge of / being able to work with Collective Agreements and ability to incorporate company policy to make informed decisions



Assets:



  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.

  • Courteous telephone manner is required as well as the ability to have difficult conversations

  • Good working knowledge of Alberta geography, rural communities and EMS scheduling and resource management.

  • Must be reliable and flexible.
