Position Title: Maintenance and Facilities Technician Location: Acheson, Alberta Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent Department: Facilities Management Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
With over 40 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services, Associated Ambulance is proud to be the largest private EMS operator in Alberta. We deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Inter Facility Transfer Services to 22 rural and 2 metro locations across Alberta.
Associated Ambulance is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Maintenance and Facilities Technician to join our organization. This vital role ensures our facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained; supporting a productive and efficient environment for staff.
Maintenance & Facilities
Perform routine building maintenance, minor repairs, and general upkeep of facilities, equipment, grounds, and staff accommodations.
Complete basic repairs involving lighting, plumbing fixtures, doors, locks, walls, hardware, and other building components.
Conduct facility inspections, identify deficiencies and safety concerns, and complete or coordinate corrective action.
Respond to urgent maintenance issues and determine when specialized work requires a qualified contractor or tradesperson.
Complete scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance, maintain records, and recommend practical repairs or improvements.
Coordinate contractors and service providers, including obtaining quotes, arranging access, monitoring work, and addressing quality, safety, cost, or timeline concerns.
Coordinate routine facility services such as cleaning, security, waste removal, and seasonal maintenance.
Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, and track purchases, work orders, service records, and contractor documentation.
Use maintenance management software and Microsoft Office to document work, communicate updates, and support facility planning.
Follow all organizational health, safety, and environmental requirements and report hazards or incidents.
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned facility maintenance requests and provide leadership with updates on work status, costs, delays, and outstanding concerns.
Logistics
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with flexibility based on travel requirements.
Travel: Daily travel throughout the province, including some overnight and occasional multi-day travel.
After Hours: Occasional emergency, evening, or weekend work may be required.
Compensation: Salaried position with potential overtime.
Vehicle: Fleet vehicle provided for business travel.
Qualifications
Previous experience in facility management, building maintenance, or a related field.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) is an asset.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management software.
Valid driver’s license and clean abstract.
