Job Description - 2nd or 3rd Year Apprentice Mechanic
Vertex is growing, and we're looking for a 2nd or 3rd year Apprentice Mechanic to join our Bonnyville, Alberta team. We're seeking a local candidate from the Bonnyville area.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, and repairs on various industrial units and other equipment
Troubleshooting damaged industrial vehicles by inspecting hoses, fuel lines, fuel injector failure, coolant related issues, wiring and light problems, air leaks, clutch and transmission repairs, wheels, brake and steering components
Completing repairs or refurbishing damaged components of a vehicle such as transmissions and clutch replacements, alternators, steering components, air leaks / fittings, and brake shoes
Operating hand power tools such as impact wrenches, torque wrenches, and drills
Lifting and carrying hydraulic pumps, vehicle seats, hosing, brake pots, and links of chain
Completing two-person lifts when handling brake shoes or vehicle seats
Completing “live” troubleshooting on damaged vehicles by operating them in order to identify the root cause of a malfunction
Candidate Qualifications
Completion of 2nd or 3rd year of Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic Trade Certification
Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean commercial abstract
Excellent organizational skills
Self-motivated with an attention to detail
Ability to work well in a team environment
Able to stand, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods of time
Ability to take direction with assisting other employees in various tasks as requested
Ability to communicate well and perform physically demanding work
Ability to work independently while managing time and productivity
Ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner
Assets to Have
Experience working in a shop environment
Experience working around industrial equipment including: Semi-Vac, Super B's, Combo Vac's, Straight Vac's and Pressure Trucks
Growth mindset towards pursuing Journeyman Mechanic certification
