Job Description - Accountant (JuniorIntermediate / Level II)

We are seeking a Junior–Intermediate Staff Accountant to support a diverse portfolio of private clients across multiple industries. This is a hands-on, full-cycle role suited for someone with a solid accounting foundation who is ready to take ownership of assigned files, learn quickly, and develop strong professional judgment under the guidance of senior team members.

This role is ideal for a candidate who takes accountability for their work, is curious about why things look the way they do, and raises potential issues early before they become problems.

The Role

Client File Support & Accounting

  • Maintain day-to-day bookkeeping and support month-end close for assigned clients, including reconciliations, accruals, adjusting entries, and supporting schedules

  • Monitor client-provided information and correspondence (including designated client email inboxes or forwarded emails) to ensure all relevant financial activity is captured and recorded accurately

  • Prepare organized, high-quality working papers to support year-end file readiness

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related schedules under ASPE

  • Monitor files for unusual items, inconsistencies, or missing information and escalate issues appropriately

Collaboration & Review

  • Review bookkeeping work completed by junior staff on your assigned files and provide clear, constructive feedback

  • Work closely with senior team members to resolve accounting issues and strengthen technical understanding

  • Communicate professionally with clients to follow up on inquiries, request information, and ensure files progress efficiently

Compliance & Process Awareness

  • Support indirect tax and compliance-related tasks where applicable (e.g., GST/PST, WCB tracking, basic payroll-related items)

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, documentation, or file organization as you gain experience

What You Will Bring

  • 2–3 years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience

    • Client service or public practice experience is a strong asset, but not required

  • CPA candidate preferred (or actively pursuing CPA)

  • Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and month-end procedures

  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO)

  • Experience with Caseware/CaseView/TaxPrep is an asset, or willingness to learn

  • Strong Excel skills with attention to detail and organization

  • Comfortable reviewing others’ work, while still working under senior guidance

  • Demonstrated sense of ownership, accountability, and willingness to ask questions early

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • You produce accurate, well-organized files that are consistently ready for review on time

  • Routine accounting issues are identified and resolved independently

  • Higher-risk or unfamiliar items are flagged early with clear questions

  • You support the development of junior bookkeeping staff through feedback and example

  • You demonstrate steady growth in judgment, confidence, and ownership of your files over time

What We Offer

  • Exposure to a broad range of clients across multiple industries

  • Real file ownership with strong coaching and support

  • Clear development pathway from junior–intermediate to senior roles

  • Collaborative, professional team environment in a downtown Vancouver office

  • Salary range: CAD $62,000–$75,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications

  • Paid vacation

  • Employee assistance program (EAP)

  • Extended health and dental benefits

  • RRSP Matching Program

  • Health and Wellness Allowance

  • Paid volunteer programs and volunteer opportunities

  • Flexibility (core office hours)

  • Employee referral program

  • Annual conferences and training

*We thank all applicants who apply; however only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
