Job Responsibility:
The law firm of Bennet Waugh Corne is looking for an office manager and accountant/bookkeeper. Will consider separating responsibilities into two separate positions of office manager with bookkeeping support, and accountant/bookkeeper.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Full cycle accounting
- All aspects of bookkeeping of the business
- Administration of trust accounts, in strict compliance with rules of the Law Society of Manitoba
- Preparation of monthly trust reconciliation to comply with Law Society requirements, and monthly general account reconciliation
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
- Familiarity with governmental accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in 10-key typing for data entry purposes
- Process employee bi-weekly payroll using Payworks
- Provide technical accounting support to staff as needed
- Maintain general ledgers, and carry out journal entries
- Accounts payable
- Preparation of monthly financial reports
- Maintain associate compensation ledgers
- Track vacation and other paid leave
- Issue annual financial statements to be used by external accounting firm
- Maintenance of benefits plan, including notifying insurer of changes, and completing annual report
- Maintenance of employee files
- Prepare and file GST/PST returns and remittances and employer remittances using online resources
- Credit card reconciliation
- Order supplies
- Review and maintain contracts for equipment and service providers
- Aid with interview and onboarding process
- Assist with employee reviews
- General supervision of office operation and staff
- Recommend and implement improvements to administration of office
- Other tasks as requested, consistent with an office bookkeeper and human resource administration
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with PC Law accounting software an asset and preferred
- Experience in a professional office as a bookkeeper/office manager preferred
- Must have experience and full working knowledge of general accounting principles, balance sheets, ledgers and other financial statements
- Must have superior attention to detail, organizational skills and demonstrated track record of diarizing and meeting strict deadlines
- Experience with completion of employer remittances for CPP, EI, and GST/PST returns
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of payroll processing procedures and relevant regulations
- Must have relevant education and experience
- Must have experience with accounts payable
- Must be friendly, and professional
- Must be logical and be able to understand and follow instructions
- Must be able to maintain confidential information
- Must have clear criminal record search, honesty, integrity and accountability
