Accounting Manager

Mikisew Group is hiring a full-time Accounting Manager to join our team and play a key role in preparing and reviewing budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes for 10+ companies, ensuring accurate and timely financial information. This role will also identify opportunities to improve operational processes, financial performance, and internal controls in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction and objectives.

The position is based out of the Enoch Capital Region. Travel to Fort McMurray Office location may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages including financial statements and variance/ratio analysis


• Lead, mentor and develop the Financial Reporting team


• Develop and manage the annual consolidated budget and financial forecasts for 10+ companies; work with Operational teams to obtain required inputs


• Lead the Compliance Reporting processes ensuring required information and calculations are accurate and timely


• Lead the transition of financial reporting from SAP Business One to NetSuite


• Present monthly results to senior leadership


• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations for more complex accounts


• Prepare/review rate builds


• Conduct accounting research and recommend appropriate treatment for complex transactions


• Consolidation of financial statements including preparation of elimination entries


• Review of quarterly Board reporting packages


• Implementation of new reports in Solver reporting tool and Dashboard reporting


• Assist in the creation and documentation of internal controls


• Preparation and/or review of working papers for the annual audit and vendor audits


• Assistance with special projects


• Other duties as assigned and as may be amended from time to time to meet company/organizational objectives
  

What you bring:

• CPA designation; combined with 7+ years of progressive accounting and leadership experience
  
  
  
  

• Ability to build financial models and analyze financial information

• Proficient in MS Office Suite, with advanced MS Excel skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting and disclosure standards under IFRS and ASPE


• Experience in a multi-company environment and reconciling inter-company accounts


• Knowledge and experience with implementation and compliance of internal controls


• Proven analytical and reconciliation skills


• Self-starter with a highly energetic, results oriented work style combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Solid team player with a high level of honesty and integrity


• Ability to communicate with a wide range of employees, from junior team members to executive management


• Strong ability to manage change and work within a fast-paced environment


• Oil and Gas and Construction Services background is an asset


• Strong systems knowledge; SAP Business One and Netsuite is an asset
