 As a member of the Supportive Housing Team, you will be supporting individuals who may experience addictions and/or mental health concerns and have struggled with housing stability. Working within a multi-disciplinary team framework throughout Oxford County, and adapting to the changing needs of the clients and communities we serve.

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 3 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

 
 WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

• What you'll be making - Starting rate for this role is $27.14 per hour (Level 1 – Direct Service), with a wage differential, based on regulation ($30.01 per hour for Level 1 – Direct Service, Regulated):
  • Successful candidates who are registered with one of the designated professional colleges (e.g. OCSWSSW, CNO, COTO, CRPO, CPSO, or CPO) will receive the wage differential for regulation
  • Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($34.41 per hour for non-regulated, and $37.26 per hour for regulated)
  • For internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement 
• When you'll work – 70 hours biweekly; Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
• What your benefits will be – After a 90-day waiting period, will be enrolled in health care benefits plan
• Your pension plan – Immediate enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

• Provide support services to a caseload of urgent needs clients
• Assess clients’ mental, physical, and emotional functional abilities and needs, and investigate client’s present resources
• Liaise with other professionals and with the community for the benefit of clients while adhering to the principle of confidentiality
• Advocate for client rights as necessary, and support self-advocacy
• Devise a housing support plan with the client, establishing goals to meet determined needs
• Provide skills teaching and support to clients to assist in accessing and maintaining housing and achieving recovery goals
• Provide crisis support and crisis prevention planning
• Maintain current and accurate client documentation records per organization policy
• Ensure screening and assessments are completed and reviewed
• Maintain open communication with client’s professional and natural supports in regards to client’s referral and recovery
• Ensure effective communication with Director, Manager, staff team, and external treatment teams concerning each client’s progress
• Identify, promote resolution, and management of emergency situations concerning clients, staff, and property

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

 We Require the Following Qualifications: 

• Post-secondary education in a related field (Primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process, i.e. original degree/diploma/certificate or official transcript)
• Valid Driver’s License, adequate insurance and access to a vehicle to carry out job duties
• Ability to attend work regularly

We Prefer the Following Qualifications:

• 1 year of work experience in the mental health field
• Experience working with people with housing instability
• Knowledge of Supportive Housing and Psychosocial Rehabilitation
• Knowledge of mental health and addictions, and community resources
• Crisis intervention and prevention
• Training in crisis intervention and resolution including ASIST and First Aid/CPR
• Bilingual both official languages, preferred; préférence sera accordée aux candidats qui sont compétents dans les deux langues officielles du Canada
