Stonehenge Therapeutic Community provides a range of residential and community-based treatment services to individuals struggling with addiction and concurrent mental health issues. We recognize the role that trauma, marginalization, and oppression play in impacting the wellbeing of those we serve. Grounded in the Therapeutic Community model of treatment, the agency is committed to taking the journey together and supporting those with whom we work to grow, thrive, and contribute to society.
Stonehenge delivers long-term, intensive residential treatment services to those whose addiction/concurrent presentations are complex. Many of our clients enter treatment directly from the Federal and Provincial correctional systems.
"We believe that every individual has the capacity to grow and contribute to society"
About the Role:
In a Residential treatment environment, the Addiction Counsellor works with individuals who have acute and/or chronic addiction issues and concurrent issues. Our Therapists engage in clinical counselling. As part of our Program, our Counsellors also become part of the overall Community, and engage in community living activities with our residents including mealtimes and recreation activities.
Our successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills with individuals and groups (concurrent/complex capable), group facilitation experience, crisis intervention and containment skills. They will also have the ability to understand the dynamics of offender behaviour and assess their needs and risks. This is a fast-paced environment, so excellent time management and organizational skills are essential.
