Administrative Assistant - Clinical Services

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s leading addiction and mental health teaching hospital. Integrating clinical care, scientific research, education, policy development and health promotion, CAMH transforms the lives of people impacted by mental health and addiction issues. CAMH has been recognized internationally as a Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization Collaborating Centre and is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. CAMH is committed to diversity in the workplace.

CAMH is seeking a full-time, permanent Administrative Assistant to support a number of Clinical Directors and Physician Leaders. The successful candidate will be required to provide assistance on a wide range of confidential organizational, physician and program related projects and issues. The successful candidate will provide advanced administrative and secretarial support and ensure the proficient and successful operation of both the Clinical and Medical Director’s offices. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to responding to internal/external inquiries, scheduling, coordinating appointments and meetings, taking minutes and attending to other administrative needs of key projects in the program. Other duties include organizing and maintaining filing systems, databases, budget templates, resource expenditures and human resource information, and any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. A high degree of discretion and confidentiality is required. This position involves contacting and responding to internal and external stakeholders as well as clients and their families. This position is located at the Bell Gateway Building, 100 Stokes Street on the Queen Street Site of CAMH.

Completion of post secondary education, with 3 years of senior level administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required. The successful candidate will have experience dealing with the public, excellent verbal and written communication skills; superior interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate sound judgment, tact and courtesy. This position requires confidentiality, initiative and tact, mature and independent judgment and a high level of administrative and communication skills. The successful candidate will have excellent organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy, particularly while multi-tasking in high-pressure situations and dealing with conflicting priorities. The successful candidate should be flexible and adaptable with regard to the types of tasks assigned and be willing to work as a team player. Proficiency in the use of computer databases and software applications, including Microsoft Office, is essential. A capacity to learn CAMH systems for client registration and documentation is essential. Knowledge of medical terminology an asset. Bilingualism (English/ French) is considered an asset.

Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
