Position Title: Admissions Coordinator

Status: Full-Time

Salary: Payband I ($38.01 - $44.05)

The Admissions Coordinator Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Admissions, the Admissions Coordinator aids in the achievement of the institutions recruitment and enrolment targets as defined by the Strategic Enrolment Management – Recruitment and Admission (SEM-RA) framework for domestic and international student populations.

The Admissions Coordinator analyzes and coordinates the admission process for domestic and international applications to all the undergraduate degree programs offered at the University, in addition to assessing applications for: mature, transfer, degree completion, program transfer, visiting student and readmission.

The Admissions Coordinator is the subject matter expert on all program admissions for direct and non-direct applicants and addresses complex, sensitive or non-routine issues. The Admissions Coordinator provides information and communicates with prospective students, applicants, guidance counsellors, parents, Faculty, and University administrators regarding a broad range of admissions related question/topics. In addition, provides leadership to plan and coordinate a series of admissions events (on-campus, off-campus and webinars) to support enrolment targets. Events include, but are not limited to: College visits, College classroom pathway visits, degree completion on campus/online webinars, and degree completion recruitment via participation in events catered to the working professional group.

The Admissions Coordinator liaises with prospects and applicants throughout the application and admission process, provides advice and support, and ensures that communications are both accurate and effective. Organizational skills are critical to the timely processing of applications and efficient operations of the Admissions department. The Admissions Coordinator ensures that the integrity of the University is maintained by using good-judgement when making admission decisions, awarding scholarships and facilitating transfer credit. 

What you bring to the role:

Education:

Four (4) year degree with a focus in business, public administration or communications or equivalent.

Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of the secondary school, college and university system
  • Some knowledge of the educational systems of other provinces and countries
  • Ability to work within a team environment and to work collaboratively with colleagues, Faculty and managers
  • Demonstrated skill in public speaking
  • Ability to relate well and respectfully to a wide range of individuals who represent different socio-economic backgrounds, races, cultures, etc.
  • Self-motivated with ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision
  • Strong judgment, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Superior written and communication skills with the ability to explain complex processes
  • Flexibility and ability to act independently
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Office applications, knowledge of Colleague would be considered an asset
  • General program and admission information about the University
